Day 127 – 6th March, 2008
Today’s photo is of the keyring pill container we got from the chemist today. We have put one on each of our car keys. They contain 16mgs of hydrocortisone which will help James in an emergency situation. If James’s cortisol level drops, it drops his sugar level which will not increase until James gets hydrocortisone – either in injection or tablet form.
Diabetes and Addison’s disease makes you be over prepared. There is no cure.
Today’s photo is of James showing me where the food was going while he was treating his 2.7mmol/L hypo.
Diabetes makes you do silly things. There is no cure.
Today we had to redo James’s infusion site. A few hours later James checked his level and discovered he was 24.8mmol/L. When he tried to bolus his pump informed him that there was a blockage. After checking that the problem was not in the tubing, we pulled out the site and discovered that it had a bend. While not as spectacular as previous bends, it still resulted in a spectacular high sugar level.
Diabetes is spectacular. There is no cure.
